Garcia Homeschoolers' EDCON Experience
School of Tomorrow Philippines has been conducting the Educator’s Convention for decades, but it was only last year when they required homeschool parents to attend the convention. At first, I wasn’t happy with the news because it meant an added expense to our budget. Then, I realized that, as homeschooling parents, attending conventions is necessary for improving our knowledge and skills.
My husband and I help each other in educating our children, and attending the convention have been beneficial for us in so many ways. One reason is that we met fellow homeschool parents who share the same delights and struggles in homeschooling. They have provided us new ways of doing things and different perspectives. They’ve shared their teaching techniques, disciplinary strategies, and non-curricular activities. We are grateful for all the learnings we’ve gained from them, and meeting every one of them is a wonderful blessing. The Educator’s Convention is full of brilliant and veteran resource speakers and Christian educators. They presented relevant and timely topics that uplifted our state of mind, heart, and soul. They’ve been a great source of encouragement not only in our journey as Christian homeschool educators, but also our personal journey as Christians. We definitely appreciate everything that we have learned from them.
Lastly, the overall experience was worth it. The event was well organized. They have excellent venues and the served great food. The resource materials are worth keeping. The event gave us an excuse to have a special time away from our children, which served as a time to revitalize our relationship. All in all, it was a wonderful experience, and we would love to take part in future conventions.
