It was in the mid-year of 2009 when we started homeschooling. I used the SSRW curriculum to teach my children how to read and write. I added some textbooks I bought from a local bookstore for teaching them other subjects such as maths and science. I was an independent homeschooler then, so most of the materials I used were mostly low cost if not free. There are a wide variety of homeschool resource sites I visit to get printables, teaching aids, classroom activities, videos, e-books' games and everything I need in homeschooling my 3 daughters. We used a vacant room in my mother in laws house as our very first classroom. We had 3 set of tables and chairs for each child, an old desktop PC and a white board. We had a 5 feet, 4 layer bookshelf full of children's books that served as our library. I posted the letters of the alphabet on the wall. We had a mini-bullettin board where they could hang their best works. It was a small room but it served its purpose.
The movie was based on Victor Hugo's novel. The story takes place in France in the early 1800s. I like it because it has a good story and interesting characters. It also gave me an idea of what it was like for the poor people of France back then. Some of the characters are Jean Valjean, Fantine, Cosette, Marius, the Thenardiers and Javert. Jean Valjean used to be a prisoner, he broke his parole and changed his name and became the mayor of a town. Fantine worked in one of his factories. Fantine had a daughter named Cosette whom she had left in the care of the Thenardiers until she could send for her. She was paying them to look after Cosette, but she did not know they were using her as a maid. One day she was fired by the foreman and she became very poor. After that, she got into a fight with one man and Javert a policeman wanted to arrest her. Jean Valjean stopped him and took Fantine to a doctor when she became ill. Fantine got worse and died , but Jean promised...
